"SOCIABLE will test a radically new idea based on ICT for integrated reinforcement of mental activity and encouragement of social interaction in people who have been diagnosed with mild dementia. SOCIABLE will combine human support and care services offered by centres and specialised experts (for example, geriatrics interns, geriatric psychiatrists or psychologists) with the latest in ICT infrastructure and technologies for supporting independent living. This new focus will be based on three technological pillars that have been analysed and demonstrated to have therapeutic value:
(a) New perceptual reality interfaces based on multi-touch surfaces, (b) an open platform for the development of cognitive training games, which enable the creation and flexible personalisation of cognitive training games and
(c) Profiling and social correspondence capacities that improve connection and interaction between elderly people. SOCIABLE will be tested with 350 older people in 7 different pilot locations in 5 European countries (Belgium, Greece, Italy, Norway and Spain)."
